Claire McArthur, Team Leader, Aberdeen City Council, Masterplanning Design & Conservation Team, presents her findings on placemaking during a pandemic.
This session will focus on the efforts of Aberdeen City Council in adapting the built environment to comply with public health guidance, with an emphasis on the City Centre and Union Street in particular. The session will also look at what the future might hold as the industry begins to think about what post-pandemic planning and placemaking could mean.
Claire is a self-confessed planning geek with a real passion for people and place.
She became a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) after studying Planning and Geography at the University of Dundee, and then Planning Practice and Research at Cardiff University. Claire has worked across both the public and private sectors and has developed a good understanding of the value of good planning from a range of different perspectives.
Claire currently sits as Team Leader within Aberdeen City Council’s Masterplanning, Design and Conservation Team. She is a volunteer for Planning Aid Scotland and holds an elected position on the RTPI’s Scottish Executive Committee.
